Gardner Health Services Strengthens Leadership Team During Transition

Guillermo Viveros Appointed Interim President & Chief Executive Officer

SAN JOSÉ, Calif., Oct. 3, 2025 – Gardner Health Services (Gardner), a leading provider of community-based healthcare in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, announced today the appointment of Guillermo Viveros as Interim President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Viveros, who has served as Gardner’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since 2023 and previously as a member of its Board of Directors, will assume the role immediately while continuing his responsibilities as CFO.

Viveros brings more than two decades of experience in executive financial and administrative leadership across Bay Area organizations, as well as a long-standing commitment to nonprofit governance and community service. During his six years on Gardner’s Board of Directors, he played a pivotal role in guiding the organization’s growth and financial sustainability.

“We are confident that Guillermo’s leadership and deep understanding of Gardner’s mission will ensure a smooth transition and continued momentum for the organization,” said William Roth, Chair of the Board of Directors. “His proven expertise and dedication to community health make him well-suited to guide Gardner during this important time.”

The leadership transition follows the departures of former executives Rafael Vaquerano and Corina Clark, who have moved on to pursue other opportunities.

As Interim President & CEO, Viveros has implemented several organizational adjustments to strengthen Gardner’s leadership capacity. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ranjani Chandramouli, and Chief People Officer, Michael McCarthy, will assume expanded management responsibilities. In addition, three senior staff members have been elevated to Interim Senior Director roles: Ofelia Ruiz, Director of Revenue Cycle and Health Information Technology, Cyndi Ragona, Director of Operations, and Loren Gissible, Director of Behavioral Health.

“I am honored by the trust placed in me by the Board of Directors and humbled to serve our staff and the communities that depend on Gardner,” said Viveros. “I am grateful for our talented leadership team and dedicated workforce, and I am confident we will continue delivering high-quality care and essential services to those who need us most.”

Gardner Health Services operates a network of clinics and programs providing comprehensive primary care, dental, optometry, behavioral health, and specialty services. The organization has served the Bay Area community for almost 60 years, with a mission to improve health outcomes and reduce barriers to care for low-income and under-resourced populations.
