A Message from Reymundo Espinoza, CEO
I’m very happy to introduce the new website and blog for Gardner Health Services. We have been an active part of this community for nearly 50 years and much has changed in both in health care and communications. Gardner has always adapted with the times, and remains dedicated to providing the best possible care to everyone who comes through our doors.
First, I want to share with you one of the most exciting developments for Gardner this year — the recent groundbreaking for the new Gardner Downtown Health Center, a joint project of Gardner Health Services and the County of Santa Clara. Scheduled for completion in 2015, the new center will allow us to significantly expand and improve our services to the residents of Downtown San Jose.
We are also managing through significant changes on both the national and local levels due to the passage of the Affordable Care Act. We have been working to enhance Gardner’s system of care in order to achieve the ACA’s “triple aim” of “better health, better healthcare, and greater value for the dollars spent.” We also believe patients deserve to be at the center of their care. Now that enrollment has begun, our goal is to help them develop a good understanding of the issues so that they can take ownership of their health.
However, although more people will have medical coverage under the new law, there will still be significant numbers in Santa Clara County who will remain uninsured. Consequently, providing comprehensive healthcare to the uninsured will continue to be a top priority at Gardner.
As these and other important changes take effect, we intend to stay in closer contact with you. This blog will explore important issues in health and healthcare delivery, as well as highlighting the excellent work of our staff and volunteers. We hope you will share your comments and questions with us on topics that interest you. For those who want regular news in their inboxes, we will soon introduce a monthly email newsletter. We also hope you will join the daily conversation with us on Facebook at Gardner Health Services and on Twitter at @Gardner4Health.
Thank you again for nearly a half-century of support for our mission to care for the well being of low and moderate-income residents of our community. We wish you and your family the best of health.
